SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist-Benefits is responsible for supporting daily human resources operations while managing and administering employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance with employment laws, enhances employee experience, and serves as a key resource for benefits-related inquiries. This position is responsible for administering all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FMLA, short- and long-term disability, supplemental benefits, and 401(k) plan. This position will also be responsible for training sessions or setting up training for all FSST staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer day-to-day HR operations, including assisting with all employee inquiries, day-to-day memos, correspondence, and assisting the Chief Human Resource Officer with HR issues.
Maintain employee records and ensure HRIS data accuracy
Assist with employee relations matters
Ensure compliance with federal, and local employment laws and regulations
Support policy development, HR SOP’s, implementation, and communication
Coordinate training and development initiatives
Handle employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures
Responsible for giving and setting up training for all FSST staff.
Benefits Administration
Manage employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, retirement, leave programs, etc.)
Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related questions and issue resolution
Coordinate annual open enrollment and benefits education sessions
Work with benefits brokers and vendors to evaluate and improve offerings
Ensure compliance with benefits-related regulations (e.g., COBRA, FMLA, ACA)
Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations
Conduct regular audits of benefits data and billing
Consistently staying abreast of new laws and programs regarding health care
Abides by HIPAA laws, ensuring the employee medical files are properly updated and secure, maintaining confidentiality in all matters at all times
Communicates with department heads, employees, and carriers to ensure compliance with FMLA, STD, retirement, and other benefits
Responsible for and monitors workers' compensation claims and loss run reports. Coordinates work between employees, their doctor, and the insurance carrier.
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
Abides by HIPAA laws, ensuring the employee medical files are properly updated and secure, maintaining confidentiality in all matters at all times
Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes. Twice a year, send out notices of any possible changes in beneficiary updates
Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges. Must follow through to make sure bills are sent out certified in a timely manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's Degree in Business Administration or related field strongly preferred. Must have Five (5) years prior experience in Human Resources.
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) is a plus
Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
Experience with HRIS systems and benefits platforms
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
HR Certification (NNAHRA-THRP, SHRM)
Familiarity with payroll processes
